"WE all commute to the same city and have fun in the same city and root for the same teams."

Not quite! Not all of us in the area are from the area. I've been in northern NJ for 6 years now, but I will always be a New Englander at heart, and I will always cheer for the Pats & Red Sox.

Anyway, why were you looking at UConn in the first place? It sounds like you really don't want to be in that area, so why is it even on your list and why are you asking about it?

I grew up near UConn and have many friends who went to school there. Hartford is NOT NYC and nobody thinks it is, or even compares it to NYC. But the area does have things to offer- concerts, shopping (Manchester is only about 20 minutes from Storrs), sporting events (UConn basketball, of course, plus other UConn sports, and Hartford has an AHL team, the Wolfpack.) Drive a little further south and you'll get to the casinos and the shore. Drive an hour and a half or so northeast and you'll reach Boston. But if you're so against being in that area, then you probably shouldn't even be thinking about going to school there.

Not every school or area is right for everyone. You think the location is lame, but it's right for some people.

Well you're from the "New England" part of CT so its acceptable for you to be a fan of the Boston teams. If your from Fairfield County there are no other options. The NY teams are our local teams. If your from any other part of CT the Boston teams are your local teams because your from New Engalnd and we're from the Tri State area.

I'm gonna apply to uconn for their Journalism program (its what I've wanted to do my whole life) and because its cheap. Its got nothing to do with the area its around. I hate New Englanders and Bostonians but if I had the grades to get into Harvard I'd go.

What are you talking about? NYC is our local city. We all commute to there. We're suburban New Yorkers

I'm not going to crazy trying to find the exact percentage of FFC residents that commute to NYC, but it's way under 10% that do. A grand total of 20% of the workforce doesn't work in FFC. However, that doesn't mean they all work in NYC. There's New Haven County, Hartford County, etc, etc. BTW, what do you mean by "We all"? Where do you work?

Percentage of county residents living and working in this county: 80.0%

So much for being 17.

I just wish if Bluecountry is going to make up alternate screen names, he would at least not be the same person in word.

I am extremely curious- why do you hate New Englanders and Bostonians?

Because he clearly is young, selfish and naive. Don't come to uconn with that attitude you won't last long. its laughable that you think you'll make it in journalism and you post the gibberish on here that you do. good luck pal.

Because they're Red Sox loving scum who talk with stupid accents and contradict themselves when our beloved Yankees buy players!
