Default Bethel Area, older homes

I am considering a move from Ohio. I am looking for established communities with homes principally built in 1920s - 1930s. Which communities, if any, would I consider within a 60 minute commute of Bethel. What should I expect to pay for roughly 1 500 - 2 000 ft sq?

thanks!!

Sounds like you might be interested in a city like Danbury.

Danbury is a large, established city and is less than an hour from NYC. The only drawback to Danbury is the large population of illegal immigrants in the area (tens of thousands). Driving in downtown Danbury, to me, has the feel of a South American country.

There is plenty of fine dining and shopping in the area with the Danbury Fair Mall off of exit 3 on 84.

For a 1500-2000 sq foot home, you might expect to pay in the mid to upper $400s. Don't quote me on that, though. Check it out on realtor.com.

maybe you should look at Bethel itself, it has some nice older homes and plenty that need doing up. Otherwise if you are willing to drive further, look further north.. gets cheaper the further north you go (Sherman, New Milford etc). Suggest search on Realtor.com based on Bethel, put in your max price, then choose "expand to surrounding areas". that should give you a good idea.
