My thoughts.

Connecticut Pluses
+ Diverse landscape, great for outdoor activities and within driving distance to even more diverse areas such as mountains in New Hampshire or the shores of Newport.
+ Small state so you can get anywhere quick and proximity to Boston, NYC, Providence
+ Summer is typically great weather, not super hot like the south
+ Very cultural, you will notice lots of historical items that you just don't much in Florida
+ Typically higher income and education levels, great schools

Connecticut Minuses
- High property taxes & gas taxes
- Winter is long and drawn out, rather depressing and not lots to do outdoors.
- Cost of living is high (for example we are first time home buyers and can't find anything we want for less than $375,000 and we aren't even that picky) especially in the more desirable areas.

The South Windsor area is a good location now. I go back and visit a few times a year and can't believe how much it has grown.
