Default Moving to Connecticut, working in Windsor Locks

I am moving to Connecticut and will be working in Windsor Locks. I have two children and schools are important, but I need to find affordable areas. Please help me and give me some ideas where to live.

What requirements do you need in a house? Number of beds, baths, square footage, etc. And what would you consider an affordable price range? It always differs for people based on where the are moving from previously. That info will help us better direct you, as towns around Hartford have very different price ranges.

Welcome to the area!

There are a number of towns near Windsor Locks that are nice with good schools. It all depends on what you are looking for and can afford. Windsor Locks itself is a nice small town with good schools that perform around the state averages on the Connecticut Mastery and Connecticut Academic Performance tests. Nearby Granby is nice town too with very good schools (above the state average) but it is somewhat rural in character and can be pricier. I would also consider the more rural towns of East Granby and Suffield as well. If you want a larger town with more options, consider Enfield. It has good schools and a wide range of housing options. I hope this helps. Jay

I forgot to add that the link below will give you information on the school districts in the state. Generally I look for towns that score at or above the state averages on the Connecticut Mastery Test and Connecticut Academic Performance Test and that have class sizes around 20 students or less. Based on the towns Jay mentioned, which would all be a reasonable commute to Windsor Locks, prices will range from $240K-$400K. There are currently 16 houses available in Granby, East Granby, Windsor Locks, Suffield, and Enfield with a minimum of 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, between 1750-2100 square feet.

I'd reccomend Suffield and East Granby. Both have good schools and great family communities and are a close commute to W locks.

Enfield would be a great choice. Research the schools as there are many. Stay away from Thompsonville. Enfield does have a lot to offer. Good luck with your relocation!
