And actually the center of Middletown has come back strong and continues to do so. Along with Manchester, IMHO it's one of the very few small cities in CT that are still doing well. It's a nice small city with good access. Since we are "network shows" just across the river in Portland is F40 Motorsports which has a sort of reality show on Speed Channel called Chasing Classic Cars.

F-40 Motorsports - Classic Cars for sale - Portland, CT, 06480

Good point also, as most already know my wife is from Wallyworld, my in-laws still live there and I had my business there for a while. I like the town.

The only thing I would caution is condo's in Wallingford tend to be either on the more sketchy side near Meriden or much further South/Southwest towards North Haven/Hamden which can be a bit of a drive to Hartford. But if you can find a place outside of those two scenarios it's a great choice too.

There is no demarcation line. The world is not black and white. Has it ever occured to you that CT is it's OWN PLACE - has it's OWN CULTURE and it's OWN CITIES?

What does this have to do with the original topic anyway?

Good to see you finally post under your real screenname through.
CT doesn't have a real strong culture.
It is more tied to NY or BOS...there is no CT accent and CT is too small a state.

Actually my question was not off topic...I would like to know where the demarkation line is so that if I were to be looking for real eastate in the areas I could choose the right town culturally speaking.

You were just told that we have our own culture, cities and speach and you dismissed it as if you are an expert, yet now you say you would "like to know". Which is it?

If you want NY, move to NY, if you want Boston move to Boston. We are not it. Get it through your thick head.

I just have a hunch that until "Not A" replaces Senior in his title, he just won't get it.

Seems to me Bluecountry, YankeesGiantsRangersNYK (Joined Dec 2008 and lives in Weston), and BostonSucks181 (Joined Dec 2008 and lives in Weston) are all the same person.

Here they are in the same post!

That's as far as I care to chase this troll. I wish they would just delete the users from memory.

You have asked this question before and it has been answered. Please do not use this thread to re-ask the same question you have asked over and over. You were warned about this before. If it continues I will issue infractions. Thank you JayCT, Moderator

pjsson is on a distinguished road
OP here. We just got back from a first visit to Hartford area. We focused on checking out Middletown and Southington. We preferred the downtown of Middletown since it felt more like a city center while Southington's was just like a strip mall. We really liked the West Lake Drive area in Middletown since it is so close to I-91 and there's so many available apartments for rent. We really would like 3 bedroom, 2 baths and it is not easy to find unless you go for a house. We will go back in February again so if anyone know of any 3 bedroom, 2 bath apartments/townhomes for rent let us know.

Thanks for everyone's help

Good for you for checking it out. Middletown's blows the doors off of most downtowns in CT, it just has so much character and has a good mix of both daytime shopping, restaurants, and a nightlife which many downtowns are lacking. They have mixed it superbly.

You are right about Southington. It's "downtown" area is actually the area around the town green which is very small and not built up much in terms of good stores or restaurants. The large plazas down the road has sucked much of the life away from it. The only time when it's really buzzing is when they have the couple big festivals during the year.

You should have no trouble at all finding an apartment, that area of Middletown and along Berlin Rd in Cromwell has thousands of units.
