Personal grooming among the southern higher classes is taken very seriously! They take pride in taking care of their appearance. Personally, I liked it when I lived there. The only time I ever wore sweats was when I went to the gym! Here, I throw them on and run around town.

However, if you run around Darien, New Canaan, Westport, Greenwich you are more likely to see more women with makeup and nice clothes, current hairstyles, doing their errands than in less affluent areas.

As for the fast food issue, well I don't know what I would do without the McDonalds drive thru!

Thin because they are broke. If you do not find what you said insulting then I feel sorry for you.

Do you enjoy anything about CT? We've chatted via DM but I can't help but notice the consistency of your miserable attitude. Sorry if that is rude, but I don't know how else to respond to the asinine remarks.

Seriously Connecticut, you guys have a wonderful culture. Do not feel you have to envy the cookie-cutter culture and bible-thumping sunbelt cities like Charlotte or Atlanta.
Well, I've lived in the South for three years. There are obese people, but then they are everywhere. Chick-fil-a makes one as fat as burger king or mcdonald's or KFC can. Come to think of it, if you take all fast food chains out of the equation, there will be no place left to eat. One certainly can't visit the marriott hotel for a quick gig

Culture-wise, I found charlotte friendlier than CT. My apologies if this were offensive. I live in the edge of Darien and Stamford. People in Darien really have an attitude. To say they are snooty would be an understatement. Stamford is alright, but barely anyone speaks a word. Just an occasional Hi.

Back in the South, people invite you into their houses. They will be happy to host you in barbecue lunch and other festivities. And the southern belles are "incredibly hot" I have wandered for three months now and I have never found women that hot over here. Maybe they are hiding due to the winter.

I am not sure if you are right. But I tend to agree with your assessment of make-up and stuff. I have traveled all over the southern states like NC, SC, Tennessee and Georgia. The southern girls are the best!

Nobody can beat them in make-up. The place I used to work before in Charlotte, almost every girl in her 20s looks like a model

That's been one of my biggest gripes over here in the north-east. My office sucks. Lack of babes has taken my motivation out.

There were days when I hated my work but still happily drove to office to spend time with all the women around. There was a top 10 on every floor that guys keep buzzing about.

My office space here sucks. I can't even make a top 5 in my entire campus

If you think that southern girls are the best then your views on what your attracted to is very tacky and you need to see the rest of the United States a little bit.

You live in Stamford, CT and you think that girls in Charlotte look better than the girls in NYC? EVERY GIRL IN MANHATTEN IS A MODEL!

You must be attracted to girls that sound like rednecks when they speak, wear rainbow flip flops everywhere, wear "Carolina Girls best in the world" t-shirts, consider double wide trailor parks high class, thirty pounds overweight, have three kids and are married before the age of 22 without a high school diploma

Also, I am not a Northerner. I have lived in SC my whole life!

These are probably the type of girls that you like?

People in Connecticut are more reserved. It is not that they are unfriendly. They do not want to intrude on your space. This has been discussed here extensively. As for your observations of women, you should consider looking beyond the surface. The women of the NE are very intelligent and have more to offer than just a pretty face. JMHO, Jay

I did not say broke I said did not have the money for non essentials. People say on here they don't have the money to keep their home warm. High 50's and low 60's is not comfort. I would assume by that other things are cut out too. For crying out loud give me a break, that statement wasn't rude.

I disagree. Shocker huh? I don't think you were being rude though, it just came off as a little offensive.

It's statistically accurate to say that the poorest people are the most obese. McDonalds, Wendy's, BK, etc all have dollar menus. If you go to the grocery store, the cheapest things are the worst for you - boxed Mac & Cheese, Noodles, chips, candy. The healthiest things that are fresh, are more expensive - whole grain bread, fruits, veggies, chicken, etc. Same with even chain restaurants - Applebees is inexpensive while Bertuccis (fresher ingredients) is more pricey.

People in CT are definitely more active. I'm not sure how they are in Woodbury but often I see people biking, jogging, walking and things like that. My gym (I just switched to Planet Fitness) is always packed, and my other two were crowded as well. Also schools in CT serve healthier lunches. No soda, sugary juice can only be bought after school hours, and hot lunches include at least one steamed veggie in most districts. I think CT now has the strictest nutritional guidelines for schools to follow in the nation. Yes there are obese people everywhere, but I think most of the morbidly obese in CT are contained to the working class cities and not really the wealthy towns. Just my observations in my 20+ years living here. The only way I'd say I agree with you about the skinny people is if you were discussing the homeless population in Waterbury or New Haven.

OK - as one of the people who leaves their heat in the 60's during the winter, it's not because if I raise it 10 degrees I'll go broke. It's because I'm cheap...LOL. I hate spending money on things that I can control the price of, I guess I'm a product of my environment because most people in CT are the same way. It's not that they don't have the money for non-essentials, but they prefer not to spend their money on certain stuff. People in CT have the most disposable income than any other state - so that's why I disagree with your opinion. I make a decent salary and can afford to turn up the heat on 75, I'd just rather not. Does that make sense?

Now for hair and makeup. Any guy I know routinely cuts their hair, shaves, trims, etc ... "manscapes" if you will. Girls are pretty religious about making sure their hair looks nice. They may not doll themselves up like they do down south, but they do make sure to look presentable (unless it's a Sunday morning at the European Shoppe in Southbury lol). I do think that compared to other areas, CT people are decent looking and natural. Thick makeup is definitely considered trashy in CT, and flashy clothing (Gucci, Prada, that stuff) is looked down upon.

Sometimes I wonder if you really live in Connecticut or central Montana LOL.

Regarding makeup - have you seen what the teenage girls are wearing these days? Thick makeup that their generation does not see as trashy. That would be for the older generation!

Sorry, but in Fairfield County designer clothing is all the rage. Manola Blahniks anyone?

The young kids nowadays pretty much disgust me! I can't believe how much makeup these girls wear. My wife is a teacher and says that young girls slap on the makeup on the way to school, and take it off on the way home. Their parent's don't have a friggen clue!! I think we have "The Hills" to thank for that. LA trashiness is spreading East....

I don't live in one of the ultra wealthy FFC towns where even Gap would be considered low class LOL. I live in a working class neighborhood on the border of NH County where kids dress/act/talk more normal!
