i know the post is old (i didn't bump it so don't whine to me..)
Im curious to know if you did in fact move here, as many people have said middletown is a nice city with a good downtown lots of shopping, easy to get to bigger cities such as hartford and new haven (both about 30 mins away) middletown is definitly safe to walk even at night. the places to stay away from would be the north end. Streets such as Grand St. Liberty St. Green St Rapallo Ave. Ferry St. As this area is very sketchy at night, LOTS of drugs and is run (to my knowledge) by the blood gang. but do not let that scare you this area is very small and if avoided you will have no trouble in the city at all.
