Is there a "real" Stars Hollow
I know this has probably been asked before, but for those of you who have seen the show Gilmore Girls (and even those who haven't), is there really a small town in Connecticut that is quite similar to the Tv town of Stars Hollow? (I know that this show was filmed on a set)
Here are two pictures: http://members.fortunecity.com/laurengraham/g243.jpg

Is there a town like this within 30 minutes of Hartford or Wethersfield, particularly?
Thanks for any help. I am determined to find that one small town that so closely resembles the hollywood set.

There isn't a real Stars Hollow, but there are some towns that are similar. I've heard people say Washington Depot is like the town on TV, but my wife swears that Essex, Guilford or Madison represent Stars Hollow more than Washington.

Based on the pictures you posted (I know nothing about the show), I would say Wallingford center is much like that, perhaps North Haven, Hamden.
Lebanon, stands out to me as well.
Town of Lebanon Connecticut
You can really tell those pictures are a movie set trying to recreate New England for sure though. Wrong kind of grass, angle of the sun to high and strong for the time of year portrayed, buildings "not quite" right, way too much "green" for the harvest decorations etc etc
Edit: But to answer your questions...that is what New England is all about! So yes of course we have small villages, towns and cities like you are looking for. Lots of them. Old Wethersfield itself would qualify.

I have read that the show's creator was inspired by the town of Washington Depot. I would say that there is not anything similar to Stars Hollow within 30 minutes fo Hartford. I would say, however, that there are several towns in western Connecticut that do resemble it, or have a similar style/feeling. The closest to Hartford that I can think about, would be Canton or Suffield, but I haven't been to either places in years, so things could have changed by now.

Thank you all for the help, thus far! Turns out, the majority of the towns you mentioned are all at least within 39 minutes of Wethersfield.
I have been to Old Wethersfield, and I do like it, but my problem is that it's surrounded by too much metropolitan sprawl. Of course, being so very close to Hartford, that's to be expected. I'm definitely looking to get away from a city atmosphere...
If you didn't have to be limited to the Hartford area, are there any specific towns in western CT you'd like to point out?

How about Collinsville? About 18 miles from Hartford.

I would have to say that just about anywhere in Litchfield county is quaint and picturesque.
I really liked Kent the last time I drove through, but I'm not sure if that's Litchfield county, and not sure how from from Wethersfield/Hartford.

I can't see the photos, there is some fortunecity error but if they were of a quaint small New England town I'd say that downtown Essex is really nice. You can just park and walk along the shops, everything is very old but well maintained, the CT river is right next to it, and there is a nice green with a gazebo.

It is Litchfield County. I would put it at a minimum of 55 miles to Hartford.
