Update on construction at plot C8 in South End:

Point of interest: Construction begins on new Harbor Point apartments - StamfordAdvocate

Burlington Coat Factory (formerly Caldor) on Broad Street will vacate its lower level.

Burlington Coat Factory downsizing in Stamford - StamfordAdvocate

This may result in a separate store in the basement. A similar arrangement was in place at the old Syms in Fairfield, where the basement was a Filene's Basement. I actually think it would be better for this building, which doesn't really belong downtown, to be torn down in favor of high-rise housing or UConn student housing.

As an added note, I noticed that construction on the townhouses on the north side of Third Street between Bedford and Summer streets has reached above ground level.

The new construction on Atlantic St and Tresser Boulevard this morning. Many of the rebars are clearly visible, a sign of how fast this is going.

I noticed that construction on Metro Green III, an 11-story apartment building (155 units) on the west side of Atlantic Street just south of the train station garage, appears to have reached the second floor.

Anyone know if the new downtown post office has opened at Summer and Spring streets?

This was last reported in July 2015:

Downtown Stamford to get post office - StamfordAdvocate

USPS lists it on its website but doesn't list the hours:

A 4-story, 13-unit multifamily apartment building has been proposed for this empty lot on Franklin Street behind 780 Summer St.

Public Notices

This would be almost across the street from the proposed 4-story building containing 53 units of “deeply affordable” housing at 76 Franklin Street.

One of Stamford

Some news today on the empty St. John's tower (A) where at some point (hopefully soon) a decision will be made whether to demolish or redeveloped.

Default Greater Stamford (Darien)

As I took a short cut in an effort to avoid the bumper-to-bumper I-95, on West Avenue in Darien I noticed this new construction. It looks as if it will be residential.

This photo I actually took it a few weeks ago, but kept forgetting to upload it to the forum.

Default Kasciousko Park

Last week I went for a stroll at Kasciousko Park and was pleasantly surprised to see this improvement currently in the works. What I don't understand is why they didn't start in the winter or wait for late autumn 2016. Construction in a park during the warmer months is annoying.

The next couple of photos I took through the small opening between the gates.

I hope they will also fix the light fixtures. The whole park was completely redone a few years ago and the light fixtures all had solar panels. Then Hurricane Sandy came for a visit and ripped off many of the panels and ruined many others that still remain in their broken state attached to the lighting poles. I find it unbelievable that the city would wait so long to fix the damages done by that storm. The walking trail was also damaged at certain spots and, until now, remained in their wreck state.

With that said, its not clear to me if the current intervention is a city project or is something from the Harbor Point people.
