We're moving with 2 teenage daughters, high school and 1st year college. Any suggestions as to how easy it will be for them to meet other kids? Are the kids pretty accepting and friendly? Thanks!

Default Ridgefield teens

Having graduated four sons from RHS, and having relocated here in our
oldest son's Junior year, I"ll share our thoughts.
Most kids are great, some are jackasses. There are plenty of clubs at the schools, and most of the churches have youth groups as well. Our oldest was an all state athlete, and he took a lot of crap from jealous kids on his team. When the seniors graduatedthings got much better. Our second became involved in TIGER TV. It no longer exists, but the point is to find a club. Our third guy was quiet. Played rec league sports and became an Eagle Scout. Was in the HS band, had a great time, went to every football and basketball game. Our youngest was the most social. Played in the band, went to the games, and hung out at the firehouse.
They must resist the pressure of having to fit in. These days, the insidious peer pressure can make for unhappy children. You must stay involved. Meet the parents, and keep your eyes and ears open.
The kids by and large are okay here. As I said there are jerks everywhere.
Get them involved at the BARN. There is a older teen and younger youth
ministry at our church. (St. Mary's)The kids really have a great time there.
Good luck. Any other questions you can e-mail me privately.
