Odd, Google claims that Dayville's doable in 47 minutes from the center of Manchester. It does tend to be optimistic, though, and I'm told that 44 around there can be a real headache.

Default Where to Commute from to Dayville CT

Ok, I have lived in Conn. most of my life and have never heard of Dayville. I just told my husband I need to learn more about my state. How far is Avon from Dayville? Perhaps your son would like that area? There are a lot of nice towns in your area..Simsbury, Farmington, Plainville, Plantsville, Southington...just not sure where Dayville is???

I grew up in NE CT and if I got a job in Dayville, I'd look North to Woodstock/Pomfret/Eastford/Putnam areas. Woodstock and Pomfret have great public school systems and excellent private schools are closeby as well.

They could also look South and West at Danielson, Brooklyn and Canterbury.

It depends how rural they want to get? Danielson and Putnam have all the stores (grocery, drug, etc.) and the other towns are more rural.

They could also check out Mansfield. I also agree with Pomfret, Brooklyn and Woodstock. All very nice towns with good schools. Jay

It seems counterintuitive, but how about Colchester? As the crow flies it looks further away (south), but the commute would be comparable to some other options, since you could take Route 2 and I-395. Avon's still under an hour away, and a big part of that drive is also on 2, which isn't usually a high-stress route to travel.

I just wonder if quiet-corner towns like Bolton and Putnam are going to work for this particular young couple. Colchester's a little more happening than those places. It'd be worth a look, anyway, though it might be too far (and again, that commute time may be optimistic).

I live in Dayville. Like Jay said, it is called the quiet corner and it lives up to that name. We haven't had one trick-or-treater in 5 years and we live one house in from a main road. There is nothing around here that I would consider rural. There is a decent size development (relatively speaking) called Zadora Heights in Danielson that would be the closest thing to what you are looking for.

I agree with the Woodstock area suggestion, as I grew up in the Killingly area. But I'm super curious, where the heck In Dayville would anyone get a job worth moving to.?????

I would assume United Natural, or before they moved to Providence.

Or perhaps a manager at one of those other industrial companies down off Exit 94.

Theres quite a few companies in that industrial park off exit 94 on Villa Louisa Road. One of them, my company does business with is an excellent place to work, and the employees are treated very well. It's a $150 million/yr company and supplies medical device companies all over the world with leading edge technology products. There are many other companies as well.
