Default Why the bad rap for East Haddam?

Hi - I have heard some bad things about the schools/people of East Haddam yet the town is beautiful and has some great real estate (especially the Hadlyme section). I just can't figure it out. Anyone who lives there/has lived there or can comment with experience on the people/schools would be very helpful. Thank you.

Default Bad Rap for East Haddam

NOT...this is one of the better sections of Connecticut..don't know where you could have heard this. Beautiful homes, good schools, nice people. I agree with other posters, you sure you don't have this confused with somewhere else...? There is East Hartford, East Hampton, East Haven..all of which are in themselves not that bad.

Aside from being a little remote, E Haddam is a great town.

East haddam schools perform above the State averages on the Connecticut Mastery and Connecticut Academic Performance tests. Class sizes appear a bit high (above 21 students per class) but are not unreasonable. It is a very nice scenic small town with a lot to offer including the world-famous Goodspeed Operahouse. I am not sure who is telling this but East Haddam is a pretty nice town IMHO, Jay

Hi...I have heard negative things about the town since I moved here myself, and can't quite get a handle on it either! The town is very beautiful. I'm picky about schools but after picking them apart for a few years I have to admit I can't really find anything wrong with them! We moved here a few years ago from another state and the schools were highly rated (scores, etc.)One thing you don't have are a lot of snobs, so if you're into the whole keeping up with your neighbors and what they buy/have/do you will be in the wrong town. We happen to think that's one of the best things about this town!
