Where to buy straw/hay around Avon?
Our yard is a mudpit. I need to put some straw or hay down to cut back on the mud. Anyone know where to get some in or around Avon? I'm guessing there has got to be a feed store in Granby at least, but I can't find anything online.
Any suggestions are appreciated! What do you guys do to cut back on mud? Anything other than straw or hay?

Maybe try
Canton Feed and Supply
465 Albany Tpk
Canton, CT (860)-693-8760
OR
Horses and Hounds
15 mill pond rd
Granby, CT (860)-413-9880
Or at least call them first and see if they carry Hay or not, but i'm assuming they should and if NOT will at least know who does...
Good Luck!

wow thanks! I don't know why I couldn't find anything. Anyway, I called them and they both carry it so that's good to know! Dogs and mud=not good for my floors. This is the time of year, I really, really appreciate my cats.

Hello,
I suggest checking the farm and garden section of Craigs List. There is hay for sale at our local farm in New Hartford, if that isn't too much of a drive from Avon/Canton. Barden Farm and Eddie is a great old time local farmer. l have never heard a positive word about Canton Feed in Canton. The owner,Dana, doesn't seem to know how to run a business.

We ended up going to Horse and Hounds in Granby because the straw was a bit cheaper. I've never been to the other store though. The lady in Horses and Hounds was really nice and very helpful.
I'm going to be looking into local farms more as I would always rather support them. It seems most of them are closed.
I'm chomping at the bit to go to the Pickin' Patch once it opens. I've wanted to go there ever since Martha Stewart featured it on her show.
