I know what you are saying and I think Bow hunting is out of touch and somewhat sick (but I have no problem with a bullet and "clean kill"), but please to not put me in the same plain as an animal. We are not the same.

I'd much rather be neighbors with wildlife than humans, frankly I'm not a fan of people in general. People are just too selfish and inconsiderate. Being smarter doesn't make people better than animals. Unfortunately, we are stuck with some people.

There are lots of deer in areas that are inappropriate for hunting i.e. populated areas. I mean, what if I popped a shot at a deer and hit the condos behind my house instead? I've seen deer darting across four-lane roadways here.

You are more than welcome - I hope it helps someone! I was lucky enough to have help from the neighbor's beagle the last time we had a mole! And you are right - like most animals, aside from the damage they cause, they really are quite fascinating!

Best post I seen in a while. If you dont want widlife move to nyc.

As far as Deer resistant shrubs/trees.....I have Green Giant Arborviteas, I bought 10 from a farmer on craigslist 3 years ago. 4-5 feet tall, Delivered and planted for $80 each. They are doing well. No Deers.

But last month I planted 10 Nellie Stevens Hollys on the other side which I bought from company below....I like the shrub but I'll expect some wildlife from that.

Some good info on the Arbs here.
Thuja Green Giant, Evergreen Trees, Thuja Plicata Arborvitae Trees (http://www.fast-growing-trees.com/ThujaGiant.htm - broken link)
