Default Relocating & working in greenwich and shelton, where to live for 800K to 1 million. 4 young kids.

Looking for value and somewhat reasonable commute to greenwich and shelton. Any recommendations for towns to look at. Lower fairfield county is too expensive for what you get. How are Southbury, Woodbury, Brookfield, Sherman and Middlebury. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Addressing "reasonable commute," I would have to say that your best bets regarding Greenwich would be Brookfield and Middlebury first. With Brookfield, you would have the option of taking I-84 to Route 7 South or going into New York State to take I-684 South. With Middlebury, you could go to Waterbury to pick up Route 8 South to Route 15 South. Next up would probably be Sherman (crossing into New York at Patterson or Brewster). Woodbury and Southbury pretty much have you driving to Danbury to join the commute to Route 7 South.

If Shelton is your focus, then Southbury, Middlebury, Woodbury in that order followed by Brookfield then Sherman.

One option might be to add Oxford at the expense of Woodbury. F.Y.I. Middlebury and Southbury comprise Regional School District 15.

Default commute to Greenwich AND Shelton

It takes me about 35 minutes to get a friend's home in Shelton; to get to my cousin's in Greenwich about the same. I'm in Ridgefield. You can get something really nice there for 800K-1mln. Seems like it might be midway.

Default Working in Greenwich and Shelton

Thanks alot for the input. I will primarily be working in Greenwich so the commute there is more important than to Shelton. My schedule is relatively flexible so I hope to be able to work around rush hour.

How long should it take from Sherman to Greenwich? Can it be done in an hour?

Seems like a beautiful town, albeit, a bit remote. I am concerned about my wife going out of her mind with 4 young kids at home and not much to do. I understand there is Candlewood Lake and a park in Sherman, as well as good schools. Are there a fair amount of activities nearby? Any word on the Sherman elementary school?

Southern Litchfeild County can get you to Greenwhich in an hour as long as traffic is not to bad. Also if you live on the Rt 7 corridor or Rt 8 up to Waterbury you have the option of taking Metro North Trains.

This is subjective and again, a no-no according to state licensing law. You are licensed to sell properties based on their attributes, not what YOU THINK constitutes a great community.

you can get a great house in trumbull for your price and i am not a realtor so i can say the schools are supposed to be very good
be careful of the upper counties for your wife and kids she will have to drive them to their activities that can take awhile
some of the areas mentioned in other posts that i think are nice is trumbull ffld and ridgefield ffdl however you get very little for your money but you would be about 20 min or less from shelton where i live and about the same ot greenwich without traffice
