Default Honest unbiased opions on Mass. v Ct.

We are moving and my husband is already in Ct. right now but work may take him to Ma. so now we are considering Ma. the area near Ct. What are the differences between the two states? Is the cost of living more or less? We are looking to rent a 4 bedroom, 2 bath around 1,500.00. Any relevant information would be greatly appreciated! Also, we have to kids 13 & 10 so schools are a priority I would like to find someplace that is close to shopping and now that our kids are older, I would like my husband and I to start having a life again and go out

Thank YOU ALL very much!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well - and I can't believe these words are going to come out of my mouth, but....MASS has a much lower tax burden then CT.

Both are very liberal. Housing in MA will be higher the closer you get to Boston.

CT has more varied landscape in a smaller area IMO but they are pretty similar in many regards.

Oh CT roads blow MA roads away from a maintenance standpoint etc. You can KNOW you crossed into MA in 91 just by how old and dingy and worn out the highways get. lol

Thank YOU for your response and we are looking in the MA. area that is around the Ct. border that is North, N. East and N. West of Enfield and then the surrounding areas of Hartford. Would love some town ideas from you.

CT seems to have a more modern infrastructure than Western Mass. And exactly what purpose are those rotaries supposed to serve?!! Plus, CT's not as infested with Red Sox fans

NP. In that direction from Enfield, the only town that really stands out to me frankly is Longmeadow. Nice nice colonial type town. I really like that place.

East Longmeadow is similar as well.

Perhaps someone else can chime in with some other towns, but I really don't have much in the direct vicinity of Enfield that I really like.

Best of luck to you,

Jay

In western mass I would agree with the two towns JV recommended though my favorite is Longmeadow, I love it. You could also look into Agawam and feeding hills which may be more affordable for you.
