I'm glad we are getting all this rain--it's much needed. I planted quite a few new pine trees in the wooded area of my back yard, and they could use the extra soaking. I read in the paper we are something like 4-5 inches below where we should be at this time of a normal year.

Thats correct. Hartford was exactly 4 inches below average for the year going into today (we'll catch up a bit after the storms roll through). The National Drought Mitigation Center released a map regarding drough conditions acorss the country and southwest CT was deemed abnormally dry. You can check it out here: US Drought Monitor
The upcoming pattern over the next week looks to be unsettled one. Hopefully we can catch up to where we need to be heading into the summer months..

Maybe we can make a CT weather sticky at the top?
It was hailing in Shelton about an hour ago. They were tiny, but hail nonetheless. Anyone else see it?

We didn't get hail where I am in Monroe (I'm on the Shelton border) but we did have thunder.

I heard thunder too. It was hailing at Sports Center hockey rinks near Stratford on 110 - crazy stuff!

Thanks for the report kidyankee! I wrote in my forecast how we could see some hail with these storms. I didn't think the wind would make it down to the surface. Anyone experience high wind gusts?

I was Hydroplaning on the Merrit at 2:15pm. Lightning was intense. I couldn't hear the thunder because the splashes were louder. It was instense but we gotta expect that now a days.
I wonder if they will create more drains on the parkway. I know some areas which get flooded pretty quick.

I like kidyankee's suggestion to make this a "sticky" at the top of the page.
