We had several brief, heavy snow showers in Monroe yesterday, too.

Friday was a nice day, sunny and in the lower 60’s. It, looks like the rain will hold off for most of today…so expect sun and temps near 55 to 60 F again. Showers and thunderstorms will pass through tonight and very early Saturday and then the rest of the weekend looks sunny and slightly cooler with temps in the lower 50’s .

The long range shows temps will become even warmer. By this Wednesday, the cool upper low will be gone to the north of the Tri-State area…so temps should be 65 – 70F. Some of the models are showing warm to hot weather in the 10- day. High temps could hit the lower 80’s away from the immediate coast. A dry pattern looks like it will also develop in the next 3 to 4 days.

Where do you get your forecasts from? All I am seeing for my area is a high of 49 Sunday, I was dreading it. The highest predicted temp I found for next week was Wednesday, at 59. Many of the sites I found had even lower temperature predictions. I would be ecstatic with 65-70, and lower 80's, I like your forecast much better!!

Sunday and Monday should average out in the 50 to 55 F range across the region with sunny skies. By mid week after another round of showers/thunderstorms a slow moderation will take place with temps into the lower 60’s.

In the long range, there are signs that the current pattern we're in (cold core low in Eastern Canada/temperatures below normal in the Eastern United States) will rapidly break down by the 16th - 19th time frame. So the pattern could change in as short as 7 days or in as long as 12 days (lol). Still, regardless…. the pattern is going to break down sometime in that timeframe. When it does break down, the flow will turn toward the southwest. So temps will likley spike into the middle 70's . There are even signs that the Bermuda High may stagger westward for a time (bringing hot and humid weather). This is rather prototypical for mid April as the struggle between storm and sun takes place.

Here’s the official short-term forecast from the National Weather Service Office:

Point Forecast: New Haven CT/Stamford, CT
41.32°N 72.94°W

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 50.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 55.

Tuesday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 54. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 61.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60.

It's another thunderstorm! I won't bother looking outside to see if it's accompanied by lightning.

It's Pouring, Lightning & Thundering. Time to stand on porch and watch. Thats 2 and we're not even near May yet.

Southern Fairfield County got lucky tonight, seems like the storm past more north of here.
