I have a correction to make.
New Haven Pizza
BETTER pizza then you would find in NYC.
Seriously though, New Haven style pizza is it's own thing. Very similar to NYC style, but not so soggy and a more thin crust, lightly charred in a brick coal fired oven.
Pepe's and Sally's are the go to places in New Haven.
Pure heaven.

I'd love to try pepe's. People at UCONN who live in fairfield county say that they ever tasted. But they've never tried Totonno's or Lombardi's in New York. Or Ro's in watertown.

Right on. NH style is among the best in the world. Even Italians think so - when I went to Rome and Florence, and people found out I was from CT, they said they wanted to visit New Haven to try the pizza.
So, overseas, I guess we are known for something other than being "just outside of NY". lol

LOL Very true.
I had some relatives in Tuscany take me to a "real Napolitano pizzeria" in Livorno to show me what "pizza is supposed to be like".
I kept telling them...We have real pizza in CT - trust me we do.
When the pizza came, it was just like something on Wooster Street (Okay, maybe the olive oil was a lot better, but still.
) and they were a little "shocked" at my "ho humness".
When I got back home I sent some pics from Sally's and Pepes and they were like

I agree that New Haven pizza is better than New York, or at least just as good. In addition to Sally's and Pepe's, I recommend trying Modern Pizza. Pepe's has been in business since 1924 and has not changed its recipe since. I have been going since I was a kid and it is good. It is still run by the same family. They have branches now in Fairfield and Manchester and have announced locations at the Mohegan Sun Casino and Yonkers, NY.

Nice. I actually liked NH Style much better than "Firenze style" - it was too thick and doughy, with chunky sauce. Ehh....not my favorite. But yes, the olive oil is excellent in Italy - especially in Amalfi.
I've been dying to go to Roselands in Derby. We went on Friday night but I was way too hungry to wait an hour, so we went to Planet Pizza instead, lol.

I have to say we used to go to Vazzy's on Broadbridge in Bridgeport on the Trumbull & Stratford town lines. All their food was very good, not just the brick oven pies.
