I like Willington Pizza (One and Two). They have a good pizza and a great staff.

Someone mentioned Ribs, which got me to thinking about BBQ...

I grew up in Kansas City, MO. Home of the best BBQ on the planet. I've been looking for a BBQ place here in CT that has good BBQ.

Just to get set it straight...

Southern BBQ is more a vinegar-based sauce with. Carolina BBQ is a good example (Pulled Pork Sandwiches)....
Memphis is more of a rub-style with a mustard base...
Texas (mesquite) and KC (hickory) BBQ are more of a tomato based BBQ Sauce. I prefer the ones with some heat to them.

The Kansas City BBQ restaurant was in Wallingford for a while but as far as I know it shut down.

Big Marks Little BBQ in Vernon and Avon is just okay.
Famous Dave's BBQ in New Britain is pretty close. They're a chain so there stuff is consistent but it's still no match for the KC BBQ I grew up with.

I'd like to find a place local to CT so I can stop having the BBQ flown in.

I thought they shut down, but someone told me they thought they just moved... there used to be a shack on the Berlin Turnpike (maybe as far north as Newington, not sure) called The Blue Lobster. They had amazing lobster rolls. So good! And their lobster bisque, oh my! They had a few tables inside, but usually they were full and we'd sit outside. They are not in the same spot, but maybe they're still in Berlin/Newington (though I wonder if they have a "real" restaurant now and perhaps are not as good and cheap!).
The Blue Lobster moved less than a mile from where they were. They are located next to Action Automotive and a physic place past Deming Road going toward Meriden in a slightly bigger, but newer building. It's located in Berlin.

I don't think anyone's mentioned Abyssinia in Hartford yet. It's in the West End, on Farmington Ave., just past Whitney St. Terrific Ethiopian food, pleasant ambience.

Hope Pizza in Stamford has the best red sauce I have ever had! Having the best red sauce, of course, gives them some REALLY good pizza, but their calzones are out of this world!

Burbanks BBQ in the Cincinnati area bills itself as Memphis style BBQ or at least Gary Burbank, late of WLW AM 700 radio claims it is such. It does have a vinegar based sauce.

My favorite restaurants in Connecticut are Antonio's in Simsbury and South Main Pizza in West Hartford. My cousin started up a restaurant called Chapter XI in Simsbury in the late 1970's and it offered French and American cuisine. That was my favorite at that time.

Looks like Mediza restaurant closed down in West Hartford. One of my favorites. Seems like lots of restaurants are closing down really fast. I almost now have to check on the Internet to see if they are still in business before I even make a reservation. Sad

- Luna's - various (including Slice of Heaven in Cromwell which is the same recipe)
- Little Rendevouz - Meriden
- Born in America - Branford
- Dominic's - Norwich
- Recovery Room - New London
- John and Maria's, Giuseppes - E Haven (may not still be around)
- Abate's - New Haven (may not still be around)
- Il Forno - Branford (may not still be around)
- Illeano's - various (some are better than others)

Bagels
