Has anyone tried Abbotts Lobster in Noank? Is it as good as everyone says?
Off the top of my head here are a few of my favorite CT restaurants:
Cobbs Mill Inn - Weston
Marios Place - Westport
The Red Barn - Westport
Inn at Newtown - Newtown
Josephs Steakhouse - Bridgeport
Chowder Pot - Branford
Griswold Inn - Essex
Ambiance and setting are so romantic in all but Marios and Chowder Pot - those two just have the best food and are more reasonably priced to bring the family. The rest of them are tops for a romantic evening or special occasion. Bon Appetit!
I almost forgot one of my most favorite places to go with my girlfriends, The Melting Pot - Darien. Makes for a fun night out with the girls!

If you go to Abbotts expecting a lot you may be disappointed. It is very good and has a wonderful water view but sparse decor (it really is just a little more than a shack). The food is good because it is so fresh and simple. It also is not cheap. All this said, I still love it and we try to go a couple of times a year.
I also see you mention a couple of places I use to go to many years ago and am wondering how good they are today. I went to Cobbs Mill when I was young and use to love it. The location is so charming but it fell on tough times with poor management and food. I would love to bring my wife there one day if it is any good. Please let me know. Also what about Mario's. I took my first girlfriend there on our first date. It was so good WAY back then. The service was so impressive for two high schoolers who never really went to a white table restaurant. How is it now? Jay

Abbotts is a typical New England Seafood shack. You get in a rope line, place your order, get a number and get your drinks and side orders on a tray, go find a seat along the water or on the dock. They call your number and you get your seafood fresh and simple while you look over the Mystic bay/LI Sound with boats passing by etc.
They call it "Lobster in the rough". I love it, just know it's not a sit down table cloth type place.

I haven't been to Marios since last summer but it was delicious then. I hope it hasn't chaged in the last year?
The last time I went to Cobbs Mill, it was for an anniversary party a few years ago. I found the food to be very good but the setting is just so pretty and romantic. I loved it. I can see why peope have their wedding receptions there.

I have been to two wedding receptions there and they were both beautiful. One was during a terrible storm that knocked out power so there was no band and the water supply pump could not work. Fortunately their ovens were gas so the food was good. That wedding still was one of the nicest I went to. The room was lit by candles so it was romantic. Jay

Pizza
Just went to Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana in the Fairfield/Bridgeport border. It was a dream! Thin and crispy pizza with the freshest high quality ingredients.
International
Fiesta Atlantic (Peruvian), Stamford, CT. Service is soso but the food is delicious. Their Chaufa is worth the trip.
American
Ash Creek, Black Rock section of Bridgeport. Food is good but what I like most is their old west decor.
