That's not entirely true. Our five largest cities (Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, Stamford, and Waterbury) have only 17.23 percent of our population. The Route 8 corridor, oddly enough, is the most Republican part of Connecticut.
I believe "purple" is fairly accurate though considering our redness regarding fiscal policy and blueness regarding social issues.

I don't think we have been conservative regarding fiscal policy in years. Not in-state anyway.

If you aren't aware, New Haven is a poor city which consists of mostly minorities. If you don't think most poor people in FL are in the cities, then I suggest you look around your state a bit more. FYI - I have spent many, many days in FL sunshine and feel I know the state well enough to give an opinion.

That's not what the town-by-town election map I saw this year showed.

If you're referencing popular vote in the presidential election. I'm not. I'm referencing registered voter percentages. But, if you have a link that contradicts my assertion with regard to higher #'s of registered Republicans compared to registered Democrats in the towns, please feel free to post it.

I found this:
http://www.sots.ct.gov/sots/lib/sots...statistics.pdf
Here are the 49 towns where registered Republicans outnumber registered Democrats:
Avon, Barkhamsted (+15), Bethany (+33), Bethlehem, Bridgewater (+51), Brookfield, Canterbury, Darien, Durham (+51), Eastford, Easton, Fairfield, Goshen, Granby, Greenwich, Hartland, Hartwinton (+18), Ledyard (+80), Litchfield, Lyme (+72), Madison, Middlebury, Monroe, Morris, New Canaan, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, North Canaan (+15), North Stonington (+34), Old Lyme (+65), Old Saybrook, Orange, Oxford, Preston (+7), Prospect, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury (+33), Shelton, Sherman, Simsbury, Somers (+98), Southbury, Suffield, Union (+74), Warren, Westbrook (+82), and Wilton.
In some cases, the difference is less than 100 as noted. The totals for the State are 445,658 Republicans and 817,435 Democrats.

SOTS: Voter Registration Statistics
Click on the 8 page pdf file and you'll see that the majority of the towns have higher Dem numbers, in the October 2008 report. Unfortunately the tables are formatted in such a way they can't easily be grabbed for a post.
But here are the state totals: - REPUBLICAN: 445,658
- DEMOCRAT: 817,435
Almost a 2:1 advantage. Looks like a blue state to me.

Not just here in Connecticut but nationally. I heard that registered Republicans comprise just 24 percent of the electorate.

See this:

When people steer others away from inner city schools, it's important to note that it is not the school that has issues - it is many of the students.
