Default Town walk at Hamden Hills vs other rentals

I am looking to rent in Hamden- I am looking for a safe, central area with rent upto $1600.I looked into Town walk at Hamden Hills -anyone knows how good/bad they are and if they are close to Hamden Hall school?
Where else can I look?

I used to live at the neighboring apartments called Aspen Glen which are bigger and a bit nicer. I think they get alot of people renting as they are on the internet, modern, affordable, very large complexes and always have openings and in my opinion not a bad choice. There are alot of students in those units but I do have a friend with 2 children who lives there and likes it. It is pretty safe and is close to a lovely bike and running trail called Farmington Canel. Hamden Hall is not that close but is drivable. There are apartments very close to Hamden Hall in the Whitneyville neighborhood of Hamden and also in East Rock neighborhood of New Haven which I think would be a nicer area to live in. These are neighborhoods both good for families and for singles and are more vibrant, centrally located so you can walk at times to things and closer to the fun things in downtown new haven and wonderful activities Yale and New Haven have to offer.

I am not an expert on New Haven but have lived in the area for 8 years. Aspen Glen Apartments were pretty nice. I lived there in a 2 br when I first moved to New Haven area and I liked the sidewalks around the complex which made for a nice safe walk in the evening.
Re: close to Hamden Hall (a private school in Hamden.) I drive by that area frequently as it is close to Hamden's nicest park for children and I saw at least 4 apartment buildings within 3 blocks of Hamden Hall. Some of the names of the complexes are Lakeshore Apartments (unknown contact) , Lakewood Luxury Apartments web site: www.hamdenapartments.com, and really nice condos complex called Whitneywood. These are all on a busy street called Whitney. There are many more apts just down the road in a nice part of New Haven also walking distance to Hamden Hall. I had a friend who was a doctor rented at the Claremont Apartments and she really liked it: www.trumbullenterprises.com
I found my latest apartment in West Haven on Craigs list so that is also a good place to look.
Good Luck.
