Is that why Windham High School has security cameras? The security guards must have installed them to gaze in awe at the bastion of intellect pouring through the hallways. Are you honestly suggesting that Windham High School is in any way comparable to E.O. Smith? How many fights occur at Windham High School in any given year? If you attended Windham High School and were in someway offended by my comment, allow me to assure you that I was not directing my comment towards every student at that school. I know there are a few good children who attend, however, not nearly enough to have a positive influence on the school at large.

Many schools today have security guards and cameras. This is a result of the Columbine incident a few years ago.

That said Windham schools do perform significantly below the state averages on the Connecticut Mastery and Connecticut Academic Performance Tests. The link below will give you more information. Jay

And E.O. Smith doesnt have a drug problem? There is far more drugs present at E.O. Smith than Windham could ever imagine to have.

I have heard from teachers and students that Mansfield tends to hide problems at E.O. Smith quite well.

That is extremely hard to believe. But on the other hand, as a person that travels near E.O. Smith to go to Husky Pizza during the school year, I do believe that I've seen security cameras outside that school.

For those of us who argue with our hands and feet about the schools in Connecticut must take in account the home environments of each schools. Consider for example E.O. Smith High School. For those of you who don't know, E.O. Smith High School is a school that is virtually across the street from the southern portion of the UCONN campus. Many children of professors go to school there. These students are allowed to go to Husky Pizza and Store 24 at lunch. For a school with a high level of children of professors, they know their responsibilities. If they're caught by UCONN police doing something stupid, and their names are put in the police blotter, their parent's last name will be put in the newspaper for every member of the university to see.

On the other hand, Windham High School students (the ones I see on main st when I go to work) may not have that same responsibility to their families names. However, I have not seen anything crazy in the streets of Willi that would make me not want to live there.

But my standards aren't "Connecticut" standards

When I was a teenager I attended both Windham High School and E.O. Smith before I had my parents send me to Loomis Chaffee (a private school), so I know from personal experience. I've seen first hand the affect each school has on the students.
