Hi,
Does anyone commute from Stamford (or another town close by) to NYC I just wanted to know the cost and time to commute. How is the ride?
THanks!

That is great it's only 30 minutes, the problem is that I might work in NYC so it would be pretty expensive to commute for an entire month. Maybe it would be cheaper if I bought a monthly pass.

A monthly pass is more cost effective for daily commuters. Make sure you take the express train which leaves Stamford and only makes two stops afterwards, those two being Harlem (125th ST) and Grand Central where the ride ends. If you take the regular train (if one day you take it by mistake, it will definitely be the first and last time ) it will take a long time. You will be amazed how many stops there are.

According to Metro-North's web site, the trip from Stamford to Grand Central is 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on which train you take. It is NOT 30 minutes.
A monthly pass from Stamford to Grand Central is $264 if bought at the station and $259 if bought online. A round-trip peak hour ticket bought at the station is $24.50 bought at the station. Jay

I do the commute daily and it is never under 45 minutes. Usually 45 minutes to an hour. They are doing track work this summer so it may even be slower. It is a good ride but often very crowded. It is worth it to get the monthly pass.

Oh well 45 min to 1 hour would not kill me. Thanks for the helpful posts!
FxTrader - so basically you can leave your house at 6:45 get to the train by 7, get to NYC by 7:50 and then walk 15 min to work to get there by 8:15.

I leave the house at 0445 and take the 0500 train into Grand Central and get there between 0550 to 0600. I then get on the subway and walk about 15 minutes from the subway to work. I usually arrive at work between 0615 - 0630. If you work within 15 minutes of Grand Central then you should be able to do the above no problem.
