Default Help! Seeking rental home in Hamden or vicinity

Hi there,

My family is moving to the New Haven area in July and we are hoping to find a family friendly neighborhood close enough to Yale that my partner can get there via bike or bus. After reading threads on this site, it seems Hamden would be a good for us. But, I'm having trouble finding a house to rent. Each time I contact realtors, the posted houses are not available and seem to just be "bait." Does anyone know a good leasing agent who can help us rent a house? Where are currently in NYC and will have limited opportunity to get to town view properties. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks!

Look on Craigslist.com or realtor.com for rental homes

Thanks -- I haven't checked realtor.com, so I'll look at that too. I'm hoping to find someone who could take us around to see several listings. Any thoughts on how I might find a reputable listing agent? Thanks again!

You'd be better off with a reputable buyer agent.

By the way, what is your maximum per month for rent? Do you have any pets? Would you be signing a one-year lease?

Listing agents are more geared toward getting listings, not dealing with buyers/renters. That's not to say that they wouldn't. Buyer agents (a/k/a selling agents) tend to prefer buyers/renters.
