New Canaan Drunk Teens
Quote:
I was reading through the New Canaan News-Review and I came across the kind of comment I couldn't believe someone actually said aloud.
Dick White, chair of New Canaan's Bylaw and Ordinance Committee, said he wanted to avoid having the teenagers who were drinking in and trashing the Park Street parking lot arrested because it would to hurt their chances of getting admitted to college, adding, "It puts the police in a very difficult position because they can perceived to be Nazi-like if it is not handled correctly."
Juvenile court is apparently too good for blue-blooded New Canaan kids, and unlike the cops in Bridgeport or Norwalk, town police must tip-toe around them until they get the letter from Yale or Cornell. (Being a legacy doesn't cut it anymore.)
When I called White for clarification, White illustrated the situation on Park Street. "It's like a beach party," he says. "They come in SUVs and sit out with coolers." Also, "there is a great suspicion of drug dealing" on the lot.

What do you think they would do if it was some kids from Norwalk or Bridgeport that were drinking and "trashing" the park street parking lot in New Canaan?????

Politricks ...
Evidently you have issues with three things.
1. suburbs
2. successful individuals
3. white folk
I have been lurking here for some time and noticed your barging in with an agenda. In just a handful of posts, your intentions have become obvious.
I am quite suspicious that while certain posters have toned down their often controversial opinions, they are substituted with your similar opinions.

It is the duty of police officers to enforce the law. Even if these kids have their parents' blessings to be boozing out of the backs of their cars (doubtful), the kids have to obey the law or suffer the consequences.

Um I think it would be expected behavior from the "inner city kids". HAVE YOU BEEN to a city lately? They ARE TRASHED.
Aroundthecorner has your number...the phone is ringing. Pick it up and listen.

The cities get bashed all the time on this forum and I can't make an observation about the double standards that exist in New Canaan?
Anyway, I met a girl from New Canaan at a bar in NYC a few months ago. I had to ask her if it was true that kids from New Canaan think kids from the town of Fairfield are "ghetto"??? She said that sadly it was true. I laughed my @## off. That is pathetic. What kind of skewed world view does a child get growing up in a town like New Canaan.....you don't have to face the consequences for breaking the law and if you met someone that isn't "ultra-rich" and just plain "rich" then they are "ghetto."
By the way, anybody hear that those two brothers from Greenwich just plead guilty to trafficking hundreds and hundreds of pounds of illegal drugs from Canada to Southern CT????
