Default Looking for rental advice between Hartford and UConn

Hi

I am moving from Cleveland, OH in August, and I need some advice about moving to the UConn area. My fiance works as a nurse, and I am a graduate student, so something in between Hartford and UConn would be ideal, with relatively easy access to the highway for commuting purposes. My problem is that having looked at the offerings online, I am finding a lot of people that have been highly dissatisfied with some of the nicer-looking communities. Also, in my experience, some of the better places don't necessarily have websites because they are good enough that they don't need them. In addition, after contacting a real estate agent, I received a list of properties with kitchens (at a minimum) which haven't been updated since the 80's. I was hoping that someone here might have some experience with renting in these areas and could suggest some places to look. I am looking for something that will be recently renovated with a nice (by the standards of someone who does a LOT of cooking) kitchen, has available parking for 2 cars (not necessarily garage parking, though that would be nice), and will allow pets (2 cats). Price range is under $1500 a month.

Any help someone could provide would be greatly appreciated.

You have to understand that connecticut does not have a lot of large scale apartment complexes. Most are smaller and older. Also note that there is always someone with a grip against a complex and those are the ones that commonly complain online. As noted Manchester has several newer complexes in the Buckland Hills area. Also the Cheney Mills are very nice there. Another complex I hear good things about are the Mansions at Hockenum Crossing. They are newer and may have some apartments in your price range. Another option would be to check craigslist.com for a condo. There are many nice ones in the area. Jay

Vernon may also work for you as well (it's next to Manchester).
