i have lived in new milford most of my life. the town is really nice and the people are nice too. the schools are good but you have an average of about 19-23 kids per class. houses are really expensive (even condos are going for about 160,000.00 or more). new milford is close to danbury (about 15-20 min. drive) which has some shopping and a nice size mall. it's also about 30-40 min. from torrington which is more city-ish.

Thanks
Thanks, kbonn89
I have been there for 1 week last year, have gone through the whole area and I found New Milford a beautiful place. I just needed some opinion about it, because you know - everything can look nice and when you move in, can be wrong. I do not have kids, so schooling is not so important. Thanks again

Hi, I live in Danbury. I personally think New Milford is a beautiful, nice place to live, some drawbacks though, and that is , that the main road in and out of New Milford, is a one-lane road called Rte 7. Two-lanes in some spots. Its is extremely crowded around rush hour and could take a while to get anywhere as it gets clogged up and backed up going North into that area.
Other than that, it is much cheaper alternative to living in the surrounding more expensive communities.
If you need anything else, just email me.

I live in Woodbury. I shop in New Milford often. Stores have gone in latley, WALMART, HOME DEPOT, 2 major super markets- Stop and Shop and Biy Y, a few others that are well known and useful. The town is 70 miles radius so plenty of room away from these stores. The green is charming with it's historic charm. It attached to part of Cadlewood Lake. Has nice schools and the high school is new and huge!
The roads have been being worked on to double lane and traffic is getting less congested. I am there often so I know traffic has been an issue in the past. Hopefully it will keep getting better.
Good luck.

Yikes-you have a hell of a drive from New Milford to Farmington on I 84
perhaps living in central CT would be a future plan- and good luck and welcome!
