And the job market there sucks for jobs in my profession. Freekin' even New Haven County has more jobs for me than the entire Miami metropolitan area, which has about 6 times the population. WTF?! Same with Orlando....there's only like one job posting. Tampa has some more, but I refuse to live there because my grandma (an old school Sicilian) would expect me to visit her every weekend.
Speaking of somebody who's spent the past 9 years now looking for a good paying white collar job, I'm not sure CT has any either. I know that sites like career builder, indeed, etc, have basically nothing in any of my fields each time I look.

I've more or less resigned myself to the fact that the only way to get ahead will be to move out of this state at some point. Of course, first I need more in savings, etc, to do so which is hard to build up when you aren't making good money.

That's not the case with me. I have an interview lined up in New Haven County this Friday. And other jobs I applied to. My recruiter said, "I can definitely get you a job within three months here in CT." But when I look in Florida, there's almost NOTHING!

Connecticut is a great place for good paying white collar jobs.

You must be in an unusual field or have some other issue if you haven't found a good-paying white collar job in 9 years.

I agree. I have a masters degree in accounting and never ever had a problem finding a job in CT within a 60-day period, and always with substantial pay increases.

What? Didn't you take your current job in Fairfield County because you could not find one in Hartford? Jay.

Yes and no. At the time I was looking for a job, I was purposely avoiding looking for jobs in Hartford, because I didn't want to stay in the area. So, I was focusing on looking for jobs in both FFC and NHC, as well as NLC and Providence. Since I was unemployed for about 6 months at the time, I decided to accept a job in FFC, thinking I would like it here (or at least be open minded to try it out). Here I am two years later and it was the worst decision I ever made in my life. But I am starting a new job search this week and will hopefully find something within 3 months, outside of FFC.

Thought of this thread when I found this today…

Fairfield County most ozone-polluted in state - Connecticut Post

Says Fairfield County ranks 19th worst for air quality (ozone) and it also ranks as the worst county in the NYC metropolitan area….

Most other CT counties werent much better...

When I travel to litchfield county there is a noticeable difference in how much cleaner the air is vs Fairfield.

But the conversation was about suffocating temps vs cooler drier breathable fresh air which was mistaken for pollution.

I'd rather have temps like today (50s/60s) with polluted air then what Florida has been dealing with "in April" and unpolluted air. And air quality gets worse with hotter temps so be lucky we don't get what Florida gets for many months.

From the link.

All the state's counties received passing grades for both short-term and annual particle pollution and Fairfield improved its grade for short-term particle pollution from a C to a B. New London and Litchfield again earned A's for short-term particle pollution

Any idea where the Fairfield reading is taken. My hunch is Sikorsky/Bpt which would certainly skew/exaggerate the results relative to northern FFC or even "back country." I'm wary of any pollution or co2 results that are single station generated.
