We will be moving to an apartment in a week or so. And looking for not so cheap but good quality furniture for moderate price. of course I visited bob's furniture and i found more negative reviews about cheap build quality than positive ones. Tried few places in milford.. Can you guys suggest some places? does anyone have experience with raymour and flanigan clearance center in milford??

Thanks

You might try looking for some used furniture on places like Craigslist.com or at a consignment shop. There is no reason not to buy wood furntiure used and if you can find someone who took care of their furniture, even some used upolstuired pieces would be fine. We als have bought some good pieces at Puritan Furniture's warehouse in Wethersfield. We bought a great sofa there recently for $400. It was a floor model and probably would have cost over $1,000 if bought new. Jay

Jay thanks for the quick reply. Forgot to mention that I am in norwalk. I checked out the website and prices look good. Do you by any chance know about if they ship? or shipping charges? do they haggle or firm prices? thanks

Since you're going to be in Norwalk, maybe(?) you're better off just grabbing some cheap stuff from Ikea in New Haven for now, and then check out the tag sales(which i hate, btw) in wealthy communities like Rowayton, Darien, Westport, New Canaan, etc.

I believe Puritan will deliver anywhere in Connecticut but Norwalk is pretty far and sometimes their furniture at the warehouse is hit-or-miss. Stratford has some excellent ideas with IKEA and tag sales. Jay

You may want to try Raymour and Flanigan's outlet on Rt 1 in Orange.

When I moved, I found a lot of decent stuff at Bob's, in their "pit". I got a small entire dining room set for about $250, a nice size dresser, and some lamps.

We've purchased two sofas from Bob's and within months they basically just collapsed. Maybe it was bad luck for us, but after the second time I resolved never to go back. We do have an Ikea sofa in our basement that we purchased about three years ago, and it has held up very well.
