The gf will be interviewing at Quinnipiac next weekend and I'll have all day Saturday to wander around on my own. Neither of us have been up there and we stay in Hilton properties for the loyalty points. Any recommendations on where we should stay or avoid? It looks like our options are:

Hampton Inn in Meriden
Homewood Suites in Meriden

Hampton Inn in Waterbury

Hampton Inn in West Haven

Hampton Inn in Farmington

We'd like to stay somewhere convenient to good food (nothing touristy, we're dedicated foodies) and somewhere I could spend the day Saturday hanging out while she interviews. Thanks in advance!

If good food is the prime motivator, I'd choose West Haven. West Haven is adjacent to the city of New Haven and New Haven is a treasure trove of gastronomic delights.

I would pick Farmington or West Haven.

Which campus of Quinnipiac will she being going to? For convenience to the main campus I would recommend West Haven while for the North Haven campus I would say Meriden.

None of these hotels are in particularly interesting areas. The Meriden hotels are located in the middle of a highway interchange (I-91/Route 15/I-691). The West Haven hotel overlooks I-95. Farmington and Waterbury are not really near Quinnipiac. I do agree that West Haven would allow you better access to New Haven and there are a ton of restaurants to eat at. If for some reason you choose Farmington, you could head over to West Hartford Center which also has a lot of restaurants. Jay

The PA program is on the North Haven campus. How much farther is it from West haven to the North Haven campus would you say it is?

The Rt.1 area of Milford and Orange is where most of the food and shopping is located. I think i'd suggest the Hilton Garden in Milford. My second recommendation would be the Hampton in Milford.

The QU pathologists' program has classes at the VA in West Haven and at the North Haven campus, so I've done that drive quite often! It's about 15-20 minutes almost entirely on the freeway (you take exit 12 off of I-91). I really enjoyed exploring the New Haven area around the time of my interview. And then there always is all the shopping in the Milford area.

A foodie would be at home in New Haven. Stay at The Study at Yale in New Haven. You wont get points though. Cool new hotel and near tons of amazing food options.

2nd choice would be Milford. Near New Haven and tons of good food too. See the foodie thread. Bistro Basque is worth a foodie's attention there.

The Study at Yale is probably the best hotel in New England - I would stay there.
