Default public transportation from Essex to Providence, RI

My husband is taking a job in Essex, CT and commuting from Providence, RI. Does anyone know of train, bus etc that will be less stressful than driving? Has anyone ever done this drive and how is the commute?

Essex is a small town on the Connecticut River. There is limited public transportation to it. I think his best bet would be to drive, but it is about 75 miles and would take about 90 minutes depending on traffic. Jay

It is easy. Go straight down I-95 to Route 9 north to Essex which is not more than a couple of miles. The only place you might hit some traffic is through Groton and New London but this would be minimal even during rush hour. I do know that traffic gets busy along I-95 during the summer months though I do not know how bad it gets during rush hour. Jay
