Summer is upon us and as anyone in Southern CT can attest, the traffic seems to increase ten fold around this time. I was thinking that regardless of what part of CT we live in, we must have that traffic short cut that we use from time to time. I tend to drive alot throughout FFC and NHC for work. I'll share mine if you all will share yours.

My contribution -
Sunday Evenings in the summer with traffic tied up on 95 Southbound, I often choose to switch from 95 to route 80, which runs parallel to 95 until you hit New Haven. There are few if any lights and compared to the stop and go between Westbrook/Clinton-New Haven, it can be a good alternative. However, if you need to continue on 95 past New Haven, it may not work as well as it would require merging onto I91 at Exit 8 and suffering through the I91/I95 merge.

And another - getting over the Q Bridge during rush hour from downtown New Haven. Don't use Route 34 approach and never ever get on I91 South to get over. Take Chapel Street out of downtown, right onto Olive Street, Left onto Wooster Street and use the ramp onto the Q Bridge at the end of Wooster. You are up and over the Q without the waiting.
