Default Wesport or Darien???

I'm wondering if we were to buy a house for $600,000-700,000 in either Darien or Westport would it be in a nice area. I see houses on the internet but some look like they may be close to the freeway and train. I have 3 kiddos and would want to be in a nice, quiet, residential neighborhood. I chose these 2 areas from research. My husband would commute to NYC and the high schools are very good in these areas. Any info/opinions would be appreciated. We would be coming from a upper-middle to upper class, gated neighborhood in a master-planned community in N. Scottsdale, AZ. Thanks!

While Darien's home owners are upper class..I think you'll find better "areas" in Westport. Darien is a smaller town. There are some excellent spots but Westport has many more excellent spots. The only thing is your husband would hae to sacrafice an extra 20-50 minutes of commuting time. check this one out on 1.40acres for $610k! The land is excellent.

You won't get much house in either town for $6-700k. Westport and Darien are among the most expensive places in the country with an average home price at or over $1m. You'll get a below average home in either town.

Look into Easton or Fairfield where you can get a little more for your money. Schools in both towns are very good.

I agree. It all depends on what you expect for that money. Pretty much all of these towns are good. There may be some homes that are located on or near a busy road or noisy highway but the neighborhoods are still pretty nice. If you don't mind a more modest home, then Westport and Darien are good choices. You might even check into Greenwich which is even closer to NYC. If you want more house for your money though, check Fairfield. Jay
