Default Commute from Stamford to New Haven

There is about 40 miles between Stamford and New Haven. How long will that commute take in the morning, if I need to be to New Haven by 7 or 8 am during the week?

I'm thinking the train might be preferable but I want to consider all the options.

Thanks,
Jen

If you need to be there by 7am, you should be OK, will take 45 minutes if no traffic at all. But by 8am the traffic starts to really build, and it can take up to an hour and a half, but that's a worst case scenario. It still is not as bad as the traffic in the other direction (New Haven to Stamford) in the morning. But train may be preferable if your schedule isn't too out of sync with the trains.
