Default Well Water

So I am finally going out this weekend to find my new home in Connecticut. We will be renting a house. I have noticed most of the houses on our list have well water. I grew up with well water and never thought much of it, now being a mom I am thinking about it. I was wondering if anyone has had their well water tested and who did you use? Also have their ever been any "problem areas" in Fairfield County with well water? Just trying to cover all my bases in advance, thanks!

We supplement our well water with flouride bottled water as our dentist says when kids ONLY ever drink well water which DOESN'T contain flouride that there teeth suffer for it.
I myself am a prodcut of that. hehe.
Other then that it's no big deal

Our dentist prescribed a flouride tablet for the kids to take every night after brushing their teeth. Our well water tastes great and I actually trust it more than anything I could buy in the store.

I believe our well water was tested by a company called Aqua-tek Labs before our closing, not sure if they service Fairfield County. A google search shows they have locations in Glastonbury, Woodbridge and Old Saybrook. They provided a full report of ph levels, mineral levels and such.

You may want to research both sides of the fluoride issue, especially as a mom. Consuming fluoride is a controversial subject. Fluoride is already in most domestic processed foods and beverages that are consumed because most of the public water supplies in the country are fluoridated.

I thank you for this, I would not do anything like that without the advice of my dentist/doctor

Flouride is a known toxin, but your dentist probably wo'nt tell you that.

My DH's grandmother has well water and sometimes has supply issues around the holidays with lots of people coming and going... but that could just be her well, and not a problem with wells in general. (We've always had city water.)

I drank well water my whole life and have nary a cavity to show for it. I think that it has more to do with genetics and good oral hygiene (I have always brushed and flossed, and always gone to the dentist every six months for cleanings.)
I actually miss well water--there was an actual taste that I can't describe. It just tasted good, like it was good for me--something I don't feel if I ever drink city water, which I actually find repulsive. But supposedly there are many more minerals in well water. Gosh, I miss it so much, especially in the summer.
