Commute from Greewich CT to Garden City NY
Hi everyone,
I just got a job in Garden City (Long Island) and was hoping to live in Greenwich CT. How long is the drive to/fro? I would only be commuting M-Th and on off hours (after 9am to work and after 8pm back to CT). I'm aware of the tolls, so the main concern is traffic.
Thanks so much.

I'd estimate it at a little over an hour.
Traffic will still be there even though its not typical rush hour times.

Sorry, but it's WAY more than an hour: you have to drive to the Bronx and then to Long Island. I would suggest you think about living on Long Island.

plus crossing the throgs neck everyday would be really expensive IMO. Under the new pricing system, I think it would be $5.50 each way. Would add up I think.

At those times (off-peak) your commute would take about 50 minutes. I used to drive from Cos Cob to Carle Place (40 miles) during rush hour and it took about an hour and fifteen.
I do think that with tolls, it would get very expensive. I suggest you look into Long Island - there are many beautiful towns in Nassau County.

Because of your hours and especially no Fridays --- its doable. But if you can afford Greenwich you might also want to check out the North Shore of Nassau County and avoid any bridges not to mention the often clogged I-95. Not sure what your price range is but from Great Neck eastward there are alot of nice towns. Maybe check out Rosyln/East Hills or even Garden City itself first.
