Default Towns Between Fairfield & Hartford

I work in Vernon and my Signif Other works in the Bridgeport area. Would like to find a happy commute somewhere in between. Have a son that will be starting high school in the fall. Am currently living in Manchester but will be selling my home hopefully this summer - (4 br's 1 1/2 baths cape, quiet street, all updated if anyone out there interested...). Am looking into Middletown, Berlin, Wallingford, Durham/Middlefield - not too far from 91. Anyone familiar with the Lake Beseck area of Middlefield - looks kind of quaint. Would like to find a decent, smaller high school with a good bakery not too far away (because we had such a great bakery in town!) Would still like to be 20-30 minutes from Hartford as there's so many great ethnic restaurants we enjoy. Anyone who can rant the great things they like about their towns?

The kids in Middlefield go to high school in Durham, at Coginchaug (sp?), a regional high school. A few kids opt for the 'vo-ag' program at Middletown High School, and Vinal tech is open to Middlefield (you have to apply to that and be chosen).

Thanks for the high school info - I was familiar with the Middlefield/Durham High school sharing and yes, the spelling of the high school is difficult! Would really like to know how people feel about pricing/quality of life/likes and dislikes about some of the towns mentioned. Wallingford, Berlin, Middlefield, Durham. Perhaps others commute from those areas to Hartford or Fairfield and could offer some insite as to nice areas to live in - possibly other towns that they like in-between.

Once folks settle on the school district, which is Region 13, many favor Middlefield over Durham simply because of the lower taxes in Middlefield.

Default Middlefield

Thanks for the property tax info on Middlefield, Rich Lee. If you are from the Middlefield/Durham area, are there any like/dislikes you would care to share?

Actually, I've lived in Cheshire since November, 1991. If you've been following some of the recent threads on this site, Cheshire has been maligned because of its supposed links to cancer. Needless to say, it hasn't impacted our real estate values.

Rich Lee,

As from the earlier post I see that your from Cheshire. One question, Is it a good town to live in in terms of comparison between bethany/woodbridge???Also, how is the commute to milford and glastonbury?

Thanks,
Sri

The commute to Glastonbury can be a little as 20 minutes. If you stay along Marion Road, you would be able to catch I-691 (for Glastonbury) or Route 68 to Route 69 (for Milford) quite easily. Milford takes me about 25 minutes. That's to get to Buffalo Wild Wings on Saturdays to NTN trivia!
