Default Anyone get a phone call re: lowering your electric bill?

Hiya.

I just got a phone call from a company called RFK Solutions LLC (according to my caller ID display). "Cathy" asked to speak to the person who pays the electric bill (me), if we use CLP or [the other one, whose name escapes me], blah blah blah, and asked if I'd like to save 10% off of our bills.

She said the billing company would remain the same (CLP) but the monthly bill would be lower. She also said that the shpiel (not her word) that she was giving me is written on the electric bill but nobody notices it or calls the number to get the 10% discount.

All she'd need is the PL (?) number that's on the bottom half of my bill in order for me to start getting 10% off for the next 12 months. "The bill that I throw out right after I pay it?" I asked. Yeah. So I couldn't give her the information, not that I was keen on doing so anyway.

Anybody get a phone call like this? Are they legit? It seemed bogus to me, especially when she said something about the state of CT wanting to give good paying customers a break. Yeah, right...

Anyone?

ETA: The caller was from a 727 area code (Florida) and when I Googled the company name, all that came up was a complaint about them calling about a timeshare offer.

I got the call yesterday too. My caller was a man. When I asked, he said he was in a call center in CA. The call and offer sounded legit to me involved some complexity that I felt needed further review.

He represented an alternate supplier who offers to provide electricity delivered through the current (no pun!) infrastructure/delivery system. As I understand it, it would still be delievered and supported by CL&P. I received mailers about this a while back. I believe this is a result of deregulation. I believe the caller said there was a choice between a six month plan and a one year plan. The prices per KWh were different. The six month plan was a little cheaper.

I asked for printed info or web site. IIRC I was given www.conedsolutions.com I have not taken time to research any further yet, but may do so sometime 'soon'. Based on the exceptionally high cost of CL&P, it would not surprise me that there can be savings with an alternate supplier. I believe there may be others besides Con Edison Solutions too. Any other opinions?

I received a similar phone call a few days ago and asked for info before committing to anything. It seems like they offer two plans-- one for a fixed energy $/kwh and a variable $/kwh which, according to the chart they gave me, seems to trend lower than CL&P. Has anyone enrolled in any of these plans? Also, from the literature I received, they seem to be geared more towards business consumers who want more of a fixed budget.
