Need Info! Walnut Beach area in Milford
We found a house in the Walnut Beach area of Milford that we love, but have heard in the past that the area isn't the best. I know it has been a bit run-down in the past, but it looks like there is some re-development going on. Can anyone tell me if you know of any issues with the area? Would it be a bad idea to by a house in that section of Milford?

I was just there visiting this weekend. I think it would be a smart move. I left Milford 2 years ago and this area is improving. If I have to come back to Ct. this is where I would look. They have to finish that developement they started but the area is on the upswing. A friend just got a steal on a beachhouse for $175,000 about 300 feet from the beach. I don't think you can go wrong.

Devon is the "worst" section of Milford, but by no means is it dangerous. It's older, a bit isolated from the rest of the city, and a bit gritty looking in spots.
If you like the house and the rest of the houses on the street aren't in too much disrepair, then buy it. JMHO.

The walnut beach area has been considered one of the most undesireable parts of Milford for quite some time now. I have a few friends who live in that area and are really pleased however, with the direction the area is heading. An impressive grass roots effort has helped propel the area forward. It is a tight knit community that still has quite a bit of issues however. There is supposedly alot of drug traffic there but I pretty much hear that is every where these days. If you end up with the "wrong type" of neighbor, you may regret living there, but there are several people who are convinced it is the next up and coming area. The beach itself is one of my favorites. I go there quite often with my children. Good luck with your decision.
