I need someone to buy my house in NC so I can get out of here and back to the Quiet Corner where my family belongs. We still can't figure out why we left, but we were young enough to give it a try.

Now we know.

So my recommendation is only valid if you come down here and buy my house and we can get back up to NE CT.

I too now am looking at NE CT. We were interviewing for New Hampshire and VT, but both of those fell through. Is that a good thing? Is NE CT better?

well eastern CT remains the only secluded region of the eastern megalopolis between DC and Boston. Known as the 'Quiet Corner'
yet incredibly close to so much.

What kind of employment are you seeking? Northeastern CT is indeed a 'secret' that many are discovering- we welcome all, but hope to preserve the region for us and all. Do PM me for more information

Well my wife is originally from Nashua, NH, I'm from GA....we live in GA now but would like to relocate to NE to be closer to her family and enjoy the seasons and the beauty of the area. I would continue to work with my current company, I'm in sales and Northeastern CT would be my area. We currently have a four year old son, and one in the oven. What are some family friendly areas that have good schools? Would housing be possible for under 200k?

Housing in eastern Connecticut is reasonable,
starter homes start at around 195K- Putnam is one town in the northeast corner that is really charming- with a good schools system and pleasant downtown.

also look into Danielson, Plainfield and Mansfield. Good luck!

A quick look at the statewide MLS shows the following median list prices for presently-active (available) properties:
Area 54 Mansfield - $348,000 / 83 single-family properties
Area 62 Killingly* - $249,900 / 173 single-family properties
Area 64 Plainfield - $254,900 / 119 single-family properties
Area 66 Putnam - $245,000 / 67 single-family properties

*Danielson is a hamlet within the town of Killingly

lukedaddy, if I remember correctly you're in Evans, GA. We lived there for seven years and are originally from CT.

We lived in Killingly (Danielson) for five years. You're going to experience some sticker shock, even in an area of CT that is relatively cheaper than the rest of the state. Do as much research as you can. In addition, you're used to having a great deal of retail and restaurants close to home. You've got to travel a ways from NE CT for major shopping and eating out.

I don't mean to be disagreeable, but I never found Putnam to be charming. Danielson is do-able, but try to do a go-see and make sure it's a place you'd like. There are some nice towns in that area - Pomfret, Woodstock, Mansfield - but they're pretty high ticket for real estate.

There's a huge difference in cost of living between GA and CT. Sorry the job in VT/NH didn't pan out.

Good luck!
