North eastern CT is known as 'The Quiet corner'. It encompasses parts of Tolland , New London and all of Windham county.

Towns would include Coventry, Willington, Ashford, Tolland, Stafford, Putnam, Pomfret, Brooklyn, Woodstock, Mansfield, Lebanon and Danielson.

Housing costs; for a 3 bedroom home 195K to and up.
New homes from 275K and up. Pomfret and Woodstock will have higher prices.

People are generally friendly and down to earth- towns are small and quiet, and a good place to raise a family. The region is mostly heavily forested. The 'quiet corner's' topography is generally hilly broken up by rolling undulating pleasant pasture land. There is a sprinkling of small farms, villages, hamlets and vineyards. Crime is low. Low traffic. A secluded lifestyle. Hope this helps

I was about to say the exact thing.

You really don't want to move to the quiet corner. Between the wild animals all over the place and the flooding through the streets, you should look elsewhere where everyone is going.

Actually, you should try North Carolina. And you can buy my house so we can get our family back to that horrible place we left a year and a half ago for some reason...known as "the Quiet Corner."

Live and learn.

We'd lived a a few different areas for the first few years of our marriage and now that our kids are growing, our experimentation is complete and there's nothing like New England and specifically northeastern CT.

I love the south but N.C. is becoming a retirement state.(I'm not giving up yet) I have child and I want her to grow up in an old fashioned down to earth area with trees and lakes, lots of nature and real people. My family was from Springfield so I'm kind of a local.

We thought of Maine but the schools and the economy are teetering on disaster.

What are some nice towns I could check on or go visit? Are the schools good? How far is the drive to Portsmouth, Boston, New York?

Fishing?................. Anyone?

I was kidding!! I have to go read my post again...I thought my tongue in cheek post came across there but obviously not.

I need someone to buy my house in NC so I can get out of here and back to the Quiet Corner where my family belongs. We still can't figure out why we left, but we were young enough to give it a try.

Now we know.

So my recommendation is only valid if you come down here and buy my house and we can get back up to NE CT.

Greg
