Hi! Has anyone had any experience or knowledge about a community in Torrington call Lakeridge? I haven't explored Torrington and am unfamiliar with this development. Don't need school info. Thanks!

DONT DO IT!!!! THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY!!!

The taxes are horrible!!!!! They Rape you. My DH lived there for 10 years and bought it really cheap with taxes only being a couple hundred bucks. When he left it was up to 10,000 a YEAR JUST in LAKERIDGE taxes...That's not counting Torrington taxes you pay the town separately ...All the potential buyers when we sere selling thought the additional condo taxes were a typo, when we told them they were NOT a typo, they left....

The member of the board like to Spend spend spend even when it's not needed..

Resale SUCKS also. Ours was priced right in the middle of the comps for the area and we sold it after 3 YEARS on the market and it was the CHEAPEST 3 bedroom in the complex by 50,000 (though it was also the nicest, newly renovated). There were 50 OTHER units on the market at the same time as ours, since all the original owners were moving out since they couldn't afford it anymore.

Pleas use caution. Once you enter in it's hard to get out.
They also have "special assesments" on top of there taxes which seem to be twice a year and would cost us as much as 1,000 at a time.

Oh and i forgot to add if at some point you CANT afford to live there anymore and want to rent it.. FORGET IT!
Lakeridge charges you $100 per PERSON whom will be renting it from you. So if you rent it for 1500 a month and 4 people are living there you OWE lakeridge $400 a month for them....STRANGE

Sorry to be so in detail, but it's a horribly run complex. More then one letter has been written by residents to Blumenthal about what's going on there.

They "Vote" on issues about spending money and they held almost EVERY one on a holiday (mothers day, 4th of july weekend) so hardly any residents were able to show for the vote except of course for the "board members" and they DIDN'T ALLOW absentee voting which is appalling, there are 400 units in the whole complex and less then 15% would show for votes and of course the board would be able to pass there stupid special fees and assessments. How that makes sense is beyond me...

Thanks for responding! Lets say money wouldn't be an issue (which is not the case) but how are the amenities they promote? Skiiing and stables?

I was assuming the costs would be out of this world. It just looks like paradise to me...to be able to walk year round to all that recreation. The homes themselves didn't seem too pricey.

I hate when something is just too good to be true!

Stables and skiing cost EXTRA even for residents....

The only ammenities INCLUDED in your taxes are indoor/outdoor pools and tennis courts.

The houses cant be expensive or no one would buy them.
Your monthly taxes with lakeridge and torrington combined would be an extra 1200 dollars a MONTH!!! on TOP of your motgage..

Please call the management office for proper information re this recreational community. I have lived here as a weekender and as a full-time owner for over 30 years. It's the best!

The number for the office is 860-482-9401.

Thank you. Come for a tour!
