Default Bergen County, NJ vs. Fairfield County, CT

Hello,

Pardon the title as I don't intend to start some sort of flame war, but I just wanted perspective on the 'culture' and aspects between the two regions if any.

I read the longer post of NJ vs. CT, but it seems the bulk of those discussions focused on Central NJ and Eastern Connecticut. Since the regions I mentioned are much closer to NYC vicinity, can I assume the culture will be much more similar than a broader comparison between the two states in entirety, of which I'm less interested in?

Had very brief projects on both sides (Ridgewood and Stamford) as I'm based out of midtown NYC and liked/disliked several things about each place for different reasons. Currently, slightly leaning toward Stamford, but just wanted other opinions if anyone has lived on both sides, thanks.

I have lived in both areas and there are differences. Bergen County is more densely developed that Fairfield County. There is a intensity in Bergen because of its close proximity to New York that you do not have in Fairfield County. Fairfield County has some New England influences that still linger dispite its ties to New York.

It is hard to compare Stamford to Ridgewood since these are two entirely different types of communities. Ridgewood is an affluent suburban community while Stamford is a small city and major employment center. ridgewood is more comparable to Greenwich while Stamford is more like Fort Lee. Jay
