Default Nicer neighborhoods close to Yale in New Haven or nearby counties?

Hello,

I am looking for a nice and safe area that is close to Yale Univ., within 15 min. drive. I am a young single professional, no kids. Can you recommend some safe areas that have more trees, space, more single family houses? I don't want to live in those multi-units houses. Thanks.

The area that is east-north of the East Rock Park looks really nice, with lots of trees and space. What county does it belong and what is the neighborhood called? I can't find any real estate for rent or for sale from that area, though Google map shows clearly there are nice houses there.

Parts of Orange that is close to New Haven seems to be nice, is that area safe? Any other areas close enough to Yale that are nice with trees and safe?

If I would be using the train station quite a bit, which nice area would be easier to drive to the station?

Thanks a lot!

Orange is a nice town. Also the area you are talking about I believe is actually part of the city of New Haven and the neighborhood is also called East Rock.

That area northeast of East Rock Park may also put you over the New Haven line into Hamden, depending how far you go.

Yes, that's East Rock. You can also try Westville. Or the Whitneyville/Spring Glen/Ridge Road areas of Hamden.

North Haven is a nice option too; the Ridge Road section goes from Hamden into North Haven, and gives you quick access to State Street which you just follow right into New Haven to get to the train station. Lots of young professionals in and around that area.
