Default 55+ community

Hi, I am looking at 55+ communities in Prospect Ct and surrounding areas. I would like to be near Westchester, and not too far from NYC. Have looked on-line at Toll Brothers in Prospect but not had a chance yet to see it in person. Don't want to spend more than $350K. I am not familiar with that town or surrounding areas. Any information on more communities or the area would be greatly appreciated.

The Toll Brothers project in Prospect is called Regency at Prospect at which approximately 366 units will be built. Directions to the site are Route 69 to Maria Hotchkiss to right onto Scott. This is one of two second condominium complexes in Prospect. The other one, Boulder Brook, is also age restricted (55+).

Prospect, located in north-central New Haven County, is surrounded by (in a clockwise motion), Waterbury to the north, Cheshire (east), Bethany (south), and Naugatuck (west).

Oddly enough, Prospect shares its phone prefixes with Middlebury (which isn't adjacent) and is part of a Regional School District with Beacon Falls (which isn't adjacent).

Here's a link for more information on the surrounding towns: http://www.cerc.com/TownProfiles/cou...unty=New_Haven.

Prospect is a nice town but I would not say that it is near Westchester or New York City. It is over 70 miles from Prospect to White Plains and 90 to Manhattan. The trip to White Plains could easily take an hour and a half and Manhattan would be about two hours. I do not consider that near. You might want some locations closer to them like Bethel or Danbury. Forgot to add, another area a little closer would be Oxford or Southbury. Both have a number of 55+ complexes and would cut the ride to Westerchester by about 15 minutes. Jay

Heritage Village is very large 55+ community in Southbury. Listing prices average around $175,000 (per CMLS 8/16/09) and there are always a good amount of units to choose from. There is a variety of styles of units. The few 55+ communites closer to NY in the Danbury area are all very expensive.

There's a place in Stamford on the east side that accepts 55+. Not sure the details though. Courtland Avenue.

Default Chatfield Farms

Chatfield Farms is a new beautiful active adult community in Beacon Falls, CT. Beacon Falls as a town is small and not very attractive, but the community is very nice and being in this town, the costs are kept down. Plus, it is just off Rt 8 which gives you fast access to the Merritt Pkwy, I-95 and I-84

Pomperaug Woods is also located in Southbury. Here's a link to their website: Pomperaug Woods, a lifecare retirement community located in Southbury Connecticut. Hope it helps.
