What city to live in near Wallingford?
Going to move to CT in about five months...My husband will primarily be working in Wallingford..cannot figure out if we should live close by (like Cheshire)..or if we should have him commute a bit to gain more in the way ammenities...Only had one visit- but Cheshire did not seem to have all of the conveniences I am used to..May need to sacrifice those- as it seems like a great place to raise a family..Kids are 4 and 6..Any suggestions?

I would recommend looking into Southington, which has many more amenities to offer then Cheshire does and it's a great family oriented town. This commute wouldn't be bad at all as Southington is just north of Cheshire. You could also look into areas of wallingford itself, though it's not a personal favorite of mine, but i know people who live there and enjoy it.

Uh...how about Wallingford.
Nice town, lots of shopping etc, nice downtown, decent schools, easy commute.
Wallingford has many sides, so if you saw something you thought was not to your standards, I can assure you there is a 180* a few miles away.

I am not sure what conveniences you are looking for that are not in Cheshire. It has pretty much all of the basic needs there or nearby. I also agree with JViello to consider Wallingford. It too has a lot as does neighboring North Haven. Maybe if you provided a little more information on what you are looking for, we can help you better. Jay

OK, now I am going to sound high maintenance...but we breezed through Glastonbury on the way to Cheshire...so I think seeing a Whole Foods and some shopping (and a few gyms) made me think Cheshire did not have a lot of ammenities...Really just somewhere decent to buy healthy food, a good gym, and a little shopping...Did not look around too much as it was pouring rain! Main street seemed pretty low key- perhaps things don't look commercial- but what I am looking for is there?
All of you help is appreciated!

I am sure there are places to buy healthy foods in Cheshire other than a Whole Foods. But if that is what you want there is a Whole Foods in Glastonbury and there are two in West Hartford. Plus both communities are not that far from Wallingford. My neighbor here in Glastonbury commutes there and says it is am easy commute. especially if the job is on the east side of Wallingford near I-91. Jay
