Smile Latvians in CT

I am moving back to CT from FL & bringing my husband (who has never been to CT) with me. He is originally from Latvia. I am looking for some poeple that he can speak with since he will be away from all the people that he speaks his native tounge to. Are there any Latvians in Connecticut? Hit me up with an E-mail, maryalexz@gmail.com

Thanks!

Mazy

There are Latvian churches in Hartford and Manchester that I know of, so I'm guessing that there are some Latvians here?

I really can't help beyond that, sorry.

I don't know if this will help much, but when my wife worked at Virgin Atlantic in Norwalk a significant number of her coworkers were foreign ex-pats who to some extent were working there for the discount international airfare benefits to go see family back home (as the benefits applied to some extent to air travel on other airlines). I say this because many eastern Europeans in the group tended to live in Fairfield or Stratford (and to some extent in Norwalk), to my knowledge they were mostly Hungarians and a couple of Russians, but maybe that translates to also having some sort of Latvian community as well.

I would extend what JViello said and look for some sort of listing of Latvian churches in CT and that may give some sort of clue.

Sveiks (Hello) ...sad to say that is the extent of my Latvian - anyway Yes there is a Latvian Lutheran Church in Manchester that (I believe) shares a pastor with a church in Mass, so I am not sure if there are services every week anymore. The group in Manchester used to be quite big, but that was some time ago.

Depending on where you're located, I might start with the local universities, which are often a nexus of international activity.
