Question Flooding in Westport and Weston areas

I'm considering moving to either Westport or Weston. I read on Wikipedia that, "a total of 26 percent of [Westport] town residents live within the 100-year-flood plain, and homes and businesses located near the water can become flooded in extremely intense storms." Does Weston have a similar flooding situation? Which areas of Weston and Westport should I stay away from in order to keep dry? I have asthma so the last thing I need is to have a house with mold problems. Thanks much!

You have to understand that Westport is a coastal community and has several good sized rivers so it is understandable that there are homes within the 100 year flood zone. That said this does not mean that the town goes under water everytime it rains. In fact you would rarely see any flooding. This is something that you should know and maybe even avoid, but I would not worry about it. Find a home you like, look to see how close it is to a river, stream or the coast and if it is in a flood zone If it is and you really like the home you could get flood insurance. Jay
